「have in mind」ってどう言う意味？【日常英会話】

みなさん、こんにちは。

今週末のレッスンで使われる表現のひとつに「have in mind」があります。

それは、「what/whom are you thinking」＝「なに/誰について（あなたが）考えている」という意味です。

例：
Jaimie: Hi Tim, I was thinking that we should start an Kensington Employee of the Month award and I know exactly who should get the first prize for September.
ジェイミー：やぁ、ティム、ケンジントン英会話の「今月の従業員賞」を始めるべきだと思ってたんだ。9月に誰がその初受賞を受け取るのかも分かってるんだ。)

Tim: Oh, that’s a nice idea Jaimie, whom do you have in mind?
(ティム：おー、それは素敵なアイディアだね、ジェイミー、それは誰だと考えているんだい？)

Jaimie: But of course you Tim, who else?!
(ジェイミー：君に決まっているじゃないか、ティム！他に誰がいるっていうんだい！)

Tim: Oh, I don’t know man, it’s a good idea but I can’t accept it.
(ティム：あー、分からないよ。素敵なアイディアだけど、僕は受け取れないよ。)

Jaimie: You’re such a great man, Tim.
(ジェイミー：君はなんて偉大な男なんだ、ティム。)

もっと現実的な例：

Jaimie: Hey Tim, do you want to hang out this weekend ?
(ジェイミー：やぁ、ティム、今週末一緒にでかけようよ。)

Tim: Sure Jaimie, what do you have in mind?
(ティム：もちろんだよ、ジェイミー、何を（するか）考えてる？)

Jaimie: How about Chinese at that nice place near our school?
(ジェイミー：学校の近くの素敵な場所の中華を食べるのはどう？)

Tim: Sounds great!
(ティム：いいね！)

Hi everyone,

One of the expressions that we’ll be using in our classes this weekend is “have in mind” and it means “what/whom are you thinking”

For example:

Jaimie: But of course you Tim, who else?!

Another more likely example:

Jaimie: Hey Tim, do you want to hang out this weekend ?

Tim: Sure Jaimie, what do you have in mind?

Jaimie: How about Chinese at that nice place near our school?

Tim: Sounds great!
