「fancy」の2つの意味と使い方【日常英会語】

今日はイギリス英語表現のご紹介です。

Fancy

Fancyには2つの意味があります。

1. 食べ物や飲み物などを好む、気にいる。

Have you ever tried sushi?
(お寿司を食べたことある?)

No, I’ve never really fancied it.
(いいえ、私はお寿司が好きではありません。)

Does anyone fancy a cup of tea?
(紅茶を飲みたい人?)

Lovely, I’ll have one thanks.
(いいね、一杯欲しいな。)

2. 誰かのことが好き

I think Tom really fancies Laura, every time he speaks to her his face goes bright red!
(トムは本当にローラのことが好きなんだと思う。彼女と話す時の彼の顔はいつも真っ赤だから。)

Fancy.

Fancy has 2 different meanings.

1. To like the look of something, usually food or drink.

“Have you ever tried sushi?”

“No, I’ve never really fancied it.”

“Does anyone fancy a cup of tea?”

“ Lovely, I’ll have one thanks.”

2.  To be attracted to someone else.

I think Tom really fancies Laura, every time he speaks to her his face goes bright red!
