「a stick in the mud」ってどういう意味？泥の中の棒？！【日常英会話】

前回、「the life of the party」という言葉をご紹介しました。

これは、一緒にいて楽しい人を表します。

そして今回はそれとは反対で「a stick in the mud」という言葉をご紹介します。

これは退屈であまり楽しくない人を意味します。

例えば

Don’t even ask James to the party, he always says no. He’s  such a stick in the mud. 
(ジェームズにパーティーの依頼さえしないでください。彼の返事はいつもノーです。面白みのない人だ。)

Today I will show you the exact opposite which is “ a stick in the mud” meaning someone who is kind of boring and not much fun to be around.

Example
